Rain
Yesterday was the last day of summer training course. Students were happy to get the certificates. 2 months have passed. I hope they have learned good things about physics, science, and doing research while they were trained.
Had dinner with the students at Family BBQ pork, a bbq buffet place near Kasetsart intersection. Ate for about 3 hours. Not the healthiest food but we had a good time. It was raining hard throughout.
Rain caused accidents on the roads. Must be careful always. Bad luck can come to you even when you are doing everything right though.
Myanmar junta is still stupid
Where did these people come from? Stone age? They don’t understand human rights.
python programming
Good article on writing games with python. PyGames also seems like a good site.
Summer training
Summer session at TINT is almost over. Just over a week to go. Students are writing their project reports now. This year’s projects are X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, neutron activation, gemstone irradiation, and thin film etching with fission tracks. There are some nice mini projects as well, such as อุปนิสัยผู้จะประสบความสำเร็จ (translation of Habits of Successful People).
Many students got sick. I got sick myself a couple times. It was nonetheless a good summer session.
Physics videos
Good post on fliptomato about Physics videos on the web. A page on Serkan Cabi’s website has many links to free streaming videos. You can learn anything these days if you set your mind to. Resources are everywhere.
Comfort games
This post is inspired by this NewGamer post.
Comfort games are like comfort foods. They are something that you can go to almost all the time. It’s what you are familiar with, and feel comfortable playing. They make you feel good. They remove the stress from a long day’s work. Right now my comfort games are StarCraft: Brood War (PC), Football Manager 2008 (PC), and Winning Eleven 7 (PS2). Another favorite is Tetris Attack (SNES), but I haven’t played it in a while.
CNET cell phone picks
I’m using a very basic phone now. It is my first and only phone so far. Now I’m looking to buy a new phone. Here, Cnet talks about what they think are Top 5 cell phones. New iPhone is also rumored to be coming on 9 June.

Stupid government
Burmese government is just dumb and backward. It can be seen in this report how clueless they are about the condition of their people.
Juntas don’t belong in politics. Oppressive leaders don’t belong in leadership positions. Any country that always makes exceptions to this fact is just a politically undeveloped country. Any country that keeps treating Myanmar as a friendly neighbor is irresponsible and unethical.
Natural disasters
After Myanmar was hit by Cyclone Nargis and over 28,000 people died, China got hit with a 7.9 earthquake in Chengdu and over 8,700 people were killed. Frequency and magnitudes of these disasters are stunningly grave. The world weather is not well.
