Reflections on the Grind

thoughts on training and life of an introvert

Pounding on

with one comment

The past 3 weeks have been really solid. Good mileage. It’s good to find a routine that works and stick with it. Though my routes aren’t scenic or exciting, I am still enjoying the runs, pounding the pavement day after day.

Next week will be challenging though, as work schedule won’t allow me to run at my usual time. So, I will have to run in the evenings and get home late, which I really don’t like. Adjustments are parts of life I guess.

Another thing that I’m not quite happy about is the lack of true long runs. I had tried a couple times lately but was unsuccessful. So that’s been bugging me. Hopefully this will change soon.

It’s been tough so far this week with the humidity. I seem to lack any kind of energy. It’s been 3 straight days of easy-pace runs which didn’t feel easy.

This evening I wanted to get in a short run around the neighborhood, but sadly I quickly was reminded that the neighborhood streets really aren’t meant for running. Had to abandon the plan after a 10-min walk. Ah, urban life is really not for me.

Let’s talk about a positive thing. This time last year (August) I got injured and had to rest for a long time. This year there’s been only one sickness so far (that nasty cold at the end of April). Right now I’m generally healthy and putting up consistent runs. So I’m happy with that.

  1. Hi Rop. Nice post. Good that you’re healthy this year and the training is going well. One knows very well about work schedules and I know you’ll find a way.

Take care and we’ll talk soon.
