September was another consistent and healthy month. 1 day off. Good mileage (199)—a decline compared to last month (220+), but still quite an improvement over Sep 2009 (82). Intensity is good I think. Alternated hard and easy days.

Three months to go in 2010. My main focus is still on Jan or Feb marathon. My training plan for October will probably be pretty much the usual:

Each day, run for an hour.
If feeling fresh, go fast.
If feeling tired or hurt, take it easy.
Rest and recover.
Repeat.

Elsewhere in the world, Ryan Hall, one of my favorite runners, took himself out of next-week’s Chicago Marathon. I think it’s a very honorable thing to do. When you know you can’t give your best, it’s better not to show up at the line. I think it applies to every athlete. It’s disrespectful if you go into a competition and treat it as just another training session.
