Almost time

It’s 5 C in Tokyo now. It will be interesting to see how 25-C training will translate on race day. Haven’t been in such cold weather in over 5 years.

Had a work trip last week to Chiang Mai. Running was limited and done on treadmills. Running in place is hard. Better than nothing though.

I am pretty healthy now. Not sure about my fitness level though. Next week I will start taking it really easy. Better be undertrained than overtrained at this point I think. I’m not expecting too much. Just eager to go run with 30,000+ people.

On a bounce from cold. Though ill for a good part of the month, I managed to get a good mileage in. Finally got in a long run last Sunday. Struggled mightily. Happy I did it though. Pain will make me stronger, once my body recovers, hopefully. Falling down and getting back up is what life is about.

Numbers of days off: 43 in 2009 and 17 in 2010. Two days off so far in 2011.

Haile Gebrselassie and I are training for the same race. That’s pretty cool.

A change in routine: I have stopped logging my runs at Dailymile. Though my two years there were great and opened my eyes to a wonderful world of runners, I think it’s time to move on.

Sports news of interest:

  • Fernando Torres to Chelsea. What a shocking trade. But Liverpool has been in poor form for a long time. It’s understandable that a player of his caliber would want to play for a better team. Meanwhile, Liverpool got Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to replace Torres. So, I think they will do just fine.
  • Barcelona is playing superbly. Now 7 points over Real Madrid. Hard to believe that they are doing even better than they were last season.
