Iron doesn’t care

When the day is long and you want a release, lifting heavy weight can be the answer.

The barbell never lies. It’s not complicated. You don’t need to think deep to figure it out. It’s just iron that always weighs the same. You can add plates to it to make it weigh more. You can’t cheat. To lift 50 kg, your body must be able to lift 50 kg. You can’t fake it. Nobody can decide if you are a 50 kg lifter or not. It’s only decided in the gym. The truth is between you and the iron.

The bar sits there in the gym. It doesn’t care if you come to lift it or not. It’s indifferent. You are the one who lifts.

Sometimes you push, sometimes you pull. Either way you fight gravity. The gravity works with the barbell to make your muscles stronger and grow. They also help you take out some stress. Physical exertion tends to do that. But the gravity and the iron can’t do their job if you decide to not go to the gym. If you decide to sit in front of your computer all day at work and then come home and sit in front of the TV all evening, they can’t do anything about that. But they don’t care. The gravity and the bar continue to exist. But do you care? If you care to get stronger, you better go pick up the iron.
