thoughts on training and life of an introvert

Dream without disappointment

Today’s meditation:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

– Rudyard Kipling, If

A little follow-up thought after this post on internal focus.

My personal goal right now is to get stronger and build a better body. I train for it. I envision the end result. I want to keep setting PRs, and I want to keep looking better in the mirror.

I may fail, but I will go down giving my best effort. I won’t be disappointed if I give my all. I will train and eat with the best of my knowledge. If I fail, then be it.

Whatever your goal may be, it’s fine. You can dream, giving yourself something to shoot for. You try your best to achieve that dream. Yet be fine with failing. Be mindful that there are things beyond your control. The outcome may not be what you hope for, but you wholeheartedly understand the nature of things and do not get disappointed. The success and failure, if they are external, are not really that important when all is said and done.
