Long day at work. Complicated issues to work out. Dealing with people is headache inducing.
Went to a funeral of a colleague who passed away due to an accident at home. Life is unpredictable.
The roads were wet and congested due to rain. Got home late. Eating dinner late.
Short session in the gym. Got a 10-rep PB. Overhead press. Pushed all the stress away. Up into the sky.

A trip to see my sister’s family is coming up. There’s also a big work-related event during that time that just popped up. Some people are giving me grief about this. I took the vacation leave a long time ago. This event was just set up recently. The work is important, but not as much as my vacation. My colleagues can take care of it, I’m sure.
Some people like to work all the time. That’s great for them. For me, I need the downtime to be away, recharge, and focus on other things in life. My personal time is sacred. As a principle, I take my time away from work seriously. Even though I do nothing important during my off days, I still want to be left alone unless it’s an emergency. There’s rarely any real emergency that’s worth disturbing anyone though.
This week I have to give a few lectures. Unfortunate timing, as I’ve been sick for quite a while now. It’s no fun to be coughing a lot during a class. On a related note, I used to enjoy teaching, but now it’s become a chore. It’s not making me learn many new things and I’m mostly just repeating the same thing over and over. I think I’m going to scale down the time I spend teaching by a lot. If it’s not fun there’s no point in doing it.
I’m so busy these days that my Spanish learning had taken a hit. Need to pick it up.
Working with many people, you can’t escape dealing with politics. Be true to yourself. Never kiss ass. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. If it’s not true, don’t do it. Said Marcus Aurelius.
I like to work on small tasks pretty fast. Working on something for a long time doesn’t appeal to me. It’s my mentality of not wanting to get bogged down with responsibilities. It’s just not a good feeling. I either do a task and finish it quickly, delegate it to somebody else, or discard it from my mind.
Most things aren’t that important to spend so much time on. Get it done and move on to something else. Life is short.
A view from a high hotel floor from last week:
We had an important meeting there. Big things are coming, but big responsibilities also. You need to be efficient in how you spend your time. Can’t waste time on unimportant things.
Starting writing too late is always a mistake. I’m way too sleepy to be creative.
Just did some pull-ups today. I seem to struggle less if I put my hands closer together.
Went to have lunch at my colleague sister’s restaurant. Then in the evening we had dinner with my dad and mom, for my birthday.
It’s late and I’m sleepy. There’s a Barcelona game later tonight but I’m not going to make it.
Just going to post pictures of the dinner. It’s a pretty nice place in Eastville mall.
Tested my (projected) maxes today. I fell short of my 300 wilkes score. But I gave my best with my current physical ability. Failure is part of the process. Falling short is better than not trying. A defeat is a progress.
Squat: 122.5 kg x 2
Bench: 95 kg x 4
Deadlift: 135 kg x 2
Projected total: 126 + 103.5 + 138.5 = 368 kg
Bodyweight: 70.7 kg
Wilkes score: 273
House renovation and repairs have concluded. Time to clean up and declutter. I need to own less things. At the moment I don’t own many, but I can still do better by throwing away unnecessary things.
Busy at work. There are so many things to do. One thing at a time. Important things first. Cut down meaningless activities and assignments.
Trim down the unnecessaries in life and become happier.
Important meeting today. We aren’t near where we want to be yet. Just a milestone, but a crucial one. Little by little, together we will go far, with commitment and positivity. I’m happy to be part of the team.
I know very little compared to the others, but I believe I can contribute in some important way. I believe in teamwork. Everyone can be a positive addition to the team if the determination is there.
Training in the evening. Still didn’t like how my knees felt during squat. Turned to something else. Got a couple sumo deadlift PBs. Hadn’t pulled sumo in four months before today. I’m just not very good at it but I need to put in the work to get better. There is a lot if run for improvement.
Can’t force life to be the way you want it be. You cannot squat 140 kg if the knees say no. You need to accept your limitations and focus on your strengths.
