You get better by learning from other people. Don’t be stuck in your old ways and always be open to charge your mind.
Listen to different viewpointsd and re-evaluate your position regularly. Avoid confirmation bias.
Don’t pretend to be smarter than you are. Don’t talk about things you don’t know about. Nobody knows everything. Be honest with yourself and be humble.
The goal may look impossible when you dream big. To get anywhere, near or far, you must start somewhere. Everything they can do, we can too. It will be a learning process. That in itself is worthwhile. Goal should be to do good and to have fun doing it.
Pain in right achilles tendon. Bummer.
Two big PB’s: Bench 10RM (82.5 kg) and deadlift with straps 6RM (125 kg). Getting stronger.
Spent most of the day learning things from Youtube. Lifting, philosophy, ideas, tech. There’s so much to learn out there.
Embrace the fact that you know very little, and keep learning. You have no obligation to keep being the person you are today. Don’t ever be content of staying the same. Keep evolving and becoming wiser.
No driving today. MRT and Uber. The time spent in the parking lot called Bangkok roads yesterday was enough.
Learned cool science stuff today at the meeting. To teach effectively you must engage the students and make it fun. Boring lectures aren’t the right approach. Make the students interested in something and they will teach themselves on that topic.
This applies to most things. don’t force feed information to someone, especially when information is widely accessible these days. Motivation is what truly drives learning.
If you want to get better at something, do it everyday.
These are the apps I use everyday (that isn’t mandatory for work like email, calendar, browser, chat apps).
FitNotes is an excellent app to log workouts, body weights, and analyze data. I have tried many and this one is my favorite. It has simple but efficient interface that fits my needs.
I use Duolingo to learn Spanish. It’s easy and fun to use, even though I still suck at real-world usage. Like FitNotes, progress is trackable which makes it satisfying to use.
WordPress app is a nice tool to put my thoughts out there. I’ve been a pretty lazy blogger. But this year I have committed to posting a daily entry. This is the right tool for that goal.
All three are fast, clean, and ads free, which are the three must-haves for me.
Had to grade some students’ lab reports today. It made me realize that I can’t be a full time teacher in a traditional education system. Routine lecturing, making tests, and grading them, then repeat next year with a new group of students just don’t seem like something I would like to do. It’s way too boring.
Today i yawned nonstop while reading the reports. I would be miserable if I have to do this routinely. I have always admired good teachers. Today I learned that the profession is just not for me.
People need things that excite them. Your brain craves simulation. Being a teacher five days a week would bore me to death. Bored is a bad state to be in.
